Contest: enter to win FOUR teen novels!

All kinds of goodness this week! First things first--it's my birthday today, and I'm super duper wuper excited. EXCITED! This Red Bull I'm drinking may have a little something to do with that, but whatev. I always love my birthday...it's fun to pamper myself for a day and take the time to do the things I want to do. Today I'm going to Red Lobster and then I may do a wee bit 'o shopping. Woo hoo!

Also, I found out that my trilogy's rights sold in Germany. That's right, people--Stupid Cupid, Flirting With Disaster, and Pucker Up will be coming to a German bookstore near you. Uh, if you're near a German bookstore, that is. Anywho, I'm so freaking stoked about this, I can't even tell you. I hope I get copies of the books, though I really don't know German that well. I know German cuss words though, so that part should be fun to read. :D

Last, but not least, I want to do a contest for my birthday. Cuz I'm cool like that, yo. Therefore, I'm giving away four signed YA books: The Tension of Opposites, The Cinderella Society, Shadowed Summer, and a signed copy of one of my books (you choose)!

And what do you have to do to win this bounty of booky goodness? Simple: entertain me by posting a birthday memory in this post. The most epic birthday memory, as judged by an impartial panel (read: a friend I bribe into it) will win! You can enter as many times as you like. And if you promo this contest on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc, you get an extra entry each--just let me know where you put it when you post your memory.

US and Canadian entrants only, please. I don't want to have to sell a kidney to send you the books. LOL

Contest ends Wednesday, 7/28/10, 11:59 pm. So enter now, and enter often!

Probably my most memorable birthday was #40... I had to work that day, AND had a department meeting, and my department decorated the room with great big "40" signs, had a cake, etc... It was very sweet!

Oh, and then there was birthday #31 when I stupidly attempted to open a Kryovac-ed package with a knife--sliced open 2 fingers! Happy birthday to me!

Happy birthday Rhonda! I hope you have a wonderful day :)

I don't really have any memorable birthday stories, though one year we had a mall scavenger hunt for my birthday party. One stop was to get a picture with something Johnny Depp and we found a Johnny Depp cut out! We were going to take a picture of us kissing it on the cheek, but the store employee chased out out screaming NO PICTURES IN THE MALL. I'm still wary to go back to that store now...

My favorite birthday memory took place when when I turned four years old. After preschool, my mom drove me home, and she pointed to three giant, arcing rainbows that streaked through the sky. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever seen! She told me it was nature's gift for my birthday.

My most memorable birthday wasn't memorable for a good reason, unfortunately. It was my 30th, which I thought should involve much hoopla and celebration, right? I mean, it's 30!!!

Yeah, the best part of my day was my bff taking me out to lunch.

My annoying husband got me a card, and picked up takeout for dinner so I didn't have to cook. THAT'S ALL.

I was pissed for the rest of that year. He better have gotten a clue for my 40th, or it might be divorce time. Seriously. Ugh.

Happy birthday! I hope Red Lobster did not disappoint. And thanks for the generous contest!

My own birthday comes right after Christmas, and is a bit of an afterthought. Well I remember the year my "birthday cake" was a gingerbread house that hadn't sold at our local bakery. It was so hard that we had to use a hammer to whack it into pieces; strangely, no one actually wanted to eat any of it.

Then there was the birthday I spent in Togo, visiting my parents who were in the Foreign Service there. I had picked up a horrible tropical-type ear infection that had completely paralyzed the left side of my face, and was totally unable to enjoy my cake. And (unlike the one above) it was a real, delicious, genuine cake. Sigh.

Then there was my sixth birthday. A neighbor child had hers on the same day, so when we went to her party, her mother had thoughtfully baked two birthday cakes, one for her and one for me. Guess whose cake was chocolate, and whose cake was a jam sponge? My sister and I were the only two children to eat the jam sponge (we were too polite to say anything), and both of us wanted to cry.

And then there was my thirtieth birthday, when my husband proposed to me in the middle of a pool game, in the same bar where we had met while playing pool....I won the game--at that point I was still better at pool then him, but then he practiced really hard and now beats me almost every time. We are still married (I am a better looser than he is) and on my last birthday he bought me a really good cake, which I got to eat.

great contest and HUGE congrats on your foreign rights!! YAY!

For my hubby's 40th, we had a surprise outdoor party in Feb. We had snowshoe three-legged races, human pyramid building contests, played pudgy bunny, it was very awesome. It lasted from 2pm to 2am. You know it's a good party when you have to clean cherry slush off the kitchen ceiling the next morning.
